When a telehealth platform starts to grow, its video infrastructure either grows with it or becomes the thing that holds it back.
That’s exactly the crossroads Sessions Health reached. Their HIPAA-compliant practice management platform for mental health professionals had outgrown its self-hosted Jitsi setup, hitting reliability issues at around 500 concurrent sessions. With adoption accelerating, they needed their telehealth video infrastructure to handle 10× that load without compromising call quality or patient privacy.
WebRTC.ventures conducted a full infrastructure assessment, then designed and implemented an enterprise-grade solution on AWS: automated autoscaling with custom CloudWatch metrics, multi-region Jitsi Video Bridge deployment, coTurn for reliable NAT traversal, Terraform for repeatable infrastructure-as-code, and our own open source Peermetrics solution for real-time call quality monitoring. The entire system was load-tested up to 5,000 concurrent sessions by our in house WebRTC QA experts. An ongoing managed services contract means Sessions Health’s team can focus on their product, while WebRTC.ventures keeps their telehealth infrastructure monitored, optimized, and scaling as demand grows.
The transformation was significant: Sessions Health moved from manual overhead and limited visibility to a fully automated, observable, enterprise-grade platform built for scale.
