AI-powered voice agents continue to expand into telephony, healthcare, and enterprise customer service. Teams building these systems face a shared set of problems: keeping latency low, keeping calls reliable, and keeping the underlying infrastructure fast enough to support real-time audio at scale. Two members of the WebRTC.ventures team will address these problems from different angles at ClueCon 2026, taking place August 10–14 at The Midland Hotel in Chicago.
Alberto Gonzalez: Deterministic Telephony Meets Real-Time Voice AI
WebRTC.ventures CTO, Alberto Gonzalez’s session will present an open-source, production architecture for running Voice AI inside a deterministic telephony system, combining a SIP edge, FreeSWITCH, and a streaming AI pipeline. FreeSWITCH enforces routing rules, timeouts, fallback paths, and session state while live audio streams through STT, inference or translation, and TTS. Alberto will cover bridging RTP audio into the pipeline, defining conversational SLOs, and isolating AI failures with deterministic fallbacks, closing with a live demo.

Hector Zelaya: eBPF Makes Python a Good Language for a TURN Server
WebRTC Developer Advocate Hector Zelaya’s talk is on how while TURN servers keep real-time communication working across complex network setups, it makes them a bottleneck. One source of that bottleneck is packets crossing multiple network layers inside the operating system. Hector’s talk looks at how eBPF lets developers run custom code securely at the Linux kernel level, bypassing user space and boosting the performance of this crucial component, even when the TURN server itself runs in Python.

ClueCon: A Developer Conference for Real-Time Communications
ClueCon is the annual developer conference run by the team behind FreeSWITCH. The 2026 event runs August 10–14 at The Midland Hotel in Chicago, opening with the Coder Games hackathon on August 10 and continuing with three days of technical talks, workshops, and networking events.
