An end-to-end, open source WebRTC stack for building scalable, real-time audio and video experiences.
LiveKit is an open source project that provides scalable, multi-user conferencing based on WebRTC. LiveKit’s server is written in Go, using the Pion WebRTC implementation. It automatically manages bandwidth use, supports hundreds of users with video on, monitors your UI and adjusts resolution or framerate, and offers out-of-the-box moderation APIs.
Our team at WebRTC.ventures have been very impressed with LiveKit and the team behind it, so we are very pleased to partner with the LiveKit team and offer this solution to our clients. We would be delighted to help you build out a new application with LiveKit, or to convert an existing solution over to LiveKit. Let’s hear about your project!
LiveKit is an Open Source Project
LiveKit is free to use, customize, integrate, extend or deploy.Â
- Scalable, distributed WebRTC SFU
- Modern, full-featured client SDKs
- Built for production; supports JWT authentication
- Robust networking and connectivity
- Easy to deploy: Single binary, Docker or Kubernetes
- Advanced features include speaker detection, simulcast, end-to-end optimizations, end-to-end encryption, selective subscription, Moderation APIs, SVC codecs (VP9, AV1), webhooks, distributed and multi-region, conversational AI
LiveKit is also a Product
Built on LiveKit’s open source WebRTC stack, LiveKit Cloud is a cloud-managed global media network designed to host large-scale live sessions. This fully managed option boasts 99.99% uptime and is similar to a CPaaS solution, yet you pay only based on the resources you use.
- Uses a horizontally-scaling mesh network which scales to millions of users in a single session with 100ms of latency to the edge.
- Users connect to the nearest LiveKit server and media flows from edge-to-edge over the private internet backbone.
- The project dashboard captures detailed telemetry for every session, participant, and track with advanced debugging tools
- LiveKit Cloud has Enterprise-grade security (SOC2 Type II, GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA compliant. FIPS compliance is coming in 2024.)
