Henry Ford was once quoted as saying, “The two most important things in any company do not appear in its balance sheet: its reputation and its people”. You know what we do at webRTC.ventures — we bring people together by closing geographical gaps using real time communication. However, you may not know WHO we are…that is until now. Each week, we have been introducing you to a member of our team. This week, we want you to meet Mariana Lopez, Director of Products.
Mariana is in charge of producing awesome products for WebRTC.ventures. She is all about creating great user experiences with our internal teams by designing, building and testing MVPs with a user centric approach.
Mariana holds a Masters in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, and a BS in Computer Science from the Universidad de Costa Rica. Mariana is also a professor in User Experience at the Universidad de Costa Rica and the Universidad Veritas, and she has spoken at conferences in the US and Latin America.

How do you spend your day?
My days are very unpredictable and I am often switching hats between sales, research, project management and design, but don’t get me wrong, that is what I love.
On the products side of WebRTC.Ventures we are always trying to improve our existing solutions and make them better, so you may find me demoing an existing product to a user or researching how to improve an interaction.
What do you do when you are not at work?
I have a 2 year old daughter who demands most of my attention, so going to play dates with her and designing fun activities for us to do together. I also love game nights and I am trying to start taking ballet classes as a workout in the mornings before I start work. (Mariana and her daughter below).
How did you start at webRTC.ventures?
I worked at a previous company with David and he invited me to join him in his new venture, that was a while back ago. I am really glad I did :).
What interests you most about webRTC technology?
I love connecting with people. I also love working remotely as a mom with a small toddler, that is useful sometimes, that makes me a fan on webRTC. I depend on it for my work and I think it can help improve peoples lives.
